The new Fortitude Valley State Secondary College is being developed in conjunction with the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The school will be a flagship, future-focused educational facility for Years 7-12 in Brisbane’s inner north.
This is the first new school in inner Brisbane in over 50 years. The vertical design solution reflects its inner urban setting. Stage 1 opened in 2020 with Year 7 students. When complete, the school will accommodate 1500 students. Technology will be a key part of the new school with innovative and future-focused approaches, supported by strong university and community partnerships.
Critical budget issues were addressed whilst retaining the design intent and improving the functionality of the school for its users. ThomsonAdsett has worked collaboratively with the school leadership team to customise the design to suit their model of school operation with a focus on staff and student circulation.
Our proactive approach to this signature project resulted in the performing arts precinct to be delivered on time and the subsequent main building is currently tracking ahead of the approved schedule.
The project’s architectural design is by COX Architecture, the architectural documentation and delivery by ThomsonAdsett and construction by Hutchinson Builders.
“I am delighted that Brisbane architects, ThomsonAdsett, will lead the detailed design partnership with Hutchinson Builders.”Annastacia Palaszczuk, Premier of Queensland
