Contemporary and fresh colours, materials and rebranding have overcome the centre’s 1990s ageing image.

The major redevelopment of Australia Fair Shopping Centre, a multi-level regional centre, has delivered a vibrant and contemporary retail experience in the heart of the Gold Coast’s traditional CBD. It has become the catalyst for the wider Southport area rejuvenation and revival for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

ThomsonAdsett’s work involved upgrading the centre’s Scarborough Street façade and entrance. It also included designing an interface with the G:link light rail and neighbouring Chinatown, a major expansion to Coles, plus makeovers internally to amenities, food court and malls.

Our selection of design elements reflects the theme established by the significant makeover of the Australia Fair Metro building to the west side of Scarborough Street.

The Australia Fair Metro building was previously tired and mostly vacant. We realigned malls and entrances to create better customer flow.
