Cameron Frazer

Cameron Frazer, a registered architect with decades of experience in architecture and executive leadership across a broad range of sectors, commenced as CEO of ThomsonAdsett in September 2020.

Prior to his appointment, Cameron held senior roles with architectural practice Hayball and the Australian Institute of Architects, Sustainability Victoria, the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment and the Victorian Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development.

As an experienced strategist and leader, Cameron is known for his consultative and strategic approach to leadership and business. He has successfully led national teams and is focused on the intersection between business and creativity, exploring new ways to translate ideas into opportunities for clients, staff and key stakeholders.

Drawing on his training as an architect and his nearly 30 years across the commercial, government and not-for-profit sectors, Cameron is passionate about developing and aligning strategies and integrating people leadership and infrastructure management to enable business success.

Cameron is a member of Victoria’s St Leonard’s College School Council, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a dedicated supporter of the environment, particularly through the Australian Marine Conservation Society.

Reena Mishra

Reena’s career in finance spans more than 15 years. She has held various positions in construction, manufacturing, education, and corporate finance companies.

Reena has a proven ability to support sustainable business growth and boost profitability in a highly competitive environment. She is a dynamic, business-minded finance professional providing guidance on corporate governance and ensures the company is up-to-date with regulatory and statutory obligations.

Chris Straw

Chris joined ThomsonAdsett in 1991, bringing with him extensive and varied business and architecture experience. Prior to joining the practice, Chris ran his own architecture firm and had been involved in several other business and marketing ventures. This experience has helped shape his holistic business and design approach.

Chris’ main focus over the last 20 years has been in seniors living design with his interest extending beyond just the built form – to assisting clients achieve operational success and understanding the impact of design on an individual and their quality of life.

Chris is actively involved in the continued education and development of future models for seniors living, including SAGE (Studying and Advancing Global Eldercare), which offers innovative study tours to the aged care and retirement living industries. He is also a Founding Board Member of CommonAge, an organisation focused on advancing the interests of older people throughout the Commonwealth by building capability and capacity in health and care services.

Chris is invested in the development of future models for aged care, focusing on emerging trends and the cultural and market shifts shaping this sector.

Chris actively participates in industry events, seminars, discussions and knowledge sharing on the future of architecture, and is a recognised champion for the seniors living sector.

David Lane

As one of Australia’s best-known architectural specialists in the seniors living industry, and chairman of ThomsonAdsett for over 15 years, David has personally been responsible for delivering over 1000 seniors living projects in Australia and internationally over the past 35 years. David has practised in Australia, United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China demonstrating a strong knowledge of international markets particularly in Asia. He established ThomsonAdsett’s studios in Malaysia, Tokyo and Hong Kong in the mid-1990s and more recently in Wuhan, China, and has been instrumental in building the practice’s international profile and securing work throughout Asia. David is a passionate advocate for social and corporate responsibility internationally, particularly relating to issues impacting the elderly, their role in society, and the impact of the built environment on elderly people’s well-being and sense of community engagement. He has also authored numerous papers and continues to be a prolific and highly regarded public speaker, presenting at conferences and workshops. Throughout his career, David has been actively involved in committees and boards associated with industry peak bodies and client organisations providing advice on capital programs and growth strategies. Key roles in these activities included, the chairman of the Australian Aged Care Exporters Network (AACE), committee member for the Property Council – Retirement Villages QLD, DACADS, Uniting Church Property Committee, Presbyterian Aged Care NSW, and is currently the co-chairman of the Australian Silver Industry Group (ASIG). As a recently appointed consulting partner to Thomson Adsett, David continues to build ThomsonAdsett’s international profile to meet the rapidly emerging opportunities for the seniors living market in Australia and Asia.

Don Marshall

In his 20 years at the practice, Don has worked on a range of award winning urban design and architectural projects across commercial, public and health sectors.

Don and the health team are currently working to transform Hong Kong’s health care service with the anticipated delivery of several hospital projects in the next 10 years.

Don is known for both his expert design and professional project delivery, and his extensive knowledge of the health industry.  He has a particular interest in creating architecture that encompasses the spiritual and psychological, as much as functional, needs that will make a real difference to a person’s state of mind and general health.

Robert Puflett

Robert has more than twenty years’ experience in architectural practice in Europe and Australia. In 1993 Puflett Associates was established after returning from the Architectural Association in London. During this time, Robert also held the position of the Architecture Editor for the architectural magazine, Monument. Along with this, he was also a lecturer for the University of NSW for six years. In 2010 Rob’s practice merged with ThomsonAdsett and Rob now leads ThomsonAdsett’s Sydney studio.

Robert’s commitment to design theory and the process is one of his many strengths, as is his client-focused approach. He has worked on significant projects throughout Australia, India and Europe. His core values are that the consideration for design excellence comes from all social, economic, physical, and cultural levels. Rob has extensive experience in the design documentation and delivery of master planned aged care communities. Rob has experience working with heritage, brown-field sites & green-field sites in an integrated and holistic manner.

Underpinning the projects of the last 10 years is a commitment to the smooth integration of sustainable design principles and technology such as co-generation and tri generation into each project. Life cycle costing is a specific interests that can benefit the long terms commercial sustainability and viability of Rob’s work.

Tony Houston

With over 45 years’ experience in the retail industry, Tony has successfully delivered more than 250 projects working with developers and retailers across Australia.

As an experienced retail professional, Tony’s expertise lies beyond architecture in applied retail logic, site analysis, and master planning. He is well-respected by major national retailers due to his intimate understanding of their design and operational requirements and his collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement.

Tony strongly appreciates the fine balance of project feasibility and design sustainability to deliver the best outcomes for clients.

He is passionate about creating designs that attract and engage the customer and provide the wow factor and point of difference to the sterile, artificial environment of the traditional shopping centre experience. Tony acts as an expert witness in the Planning and Environment Court cases involving shopping centre developments. He served on the Retail Committee of the Property Council of Australia’s Queensland division and was a judge for their annual Retail Awards between 2010 and 2018.

Gavin Kickbush

Gavin is an experienced architect and Group Practice Director at ThomsonAdsett. For almost 25 years, Gavin has worked largely in the healthcare and commercial space, with a recent focus on strategic practice development.

He has most recently been involved in the largest ThomsonAdsett Australian project to date, The Townsville Hospital Redevelopment, working as Project Architect. The $450m redevelopment is one of the first projects commissioned by the Queensland Government to provide full Building Information Modeling (BIM) as a deliverable.

Gavin’s strategic vision for the future of design is reflected in his planning and advising on Quality Management systems, IT initiatives, Computer Aided Design and Drafting standards and software, and extensive knowledge of Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.  His attention to detail, effective leadership and keen technological interest and skill played a key role in the success of two new commercial buildings at the Port of Brisbane, which were both awarded 5-star GBCA Green Star ratings, and the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) Queensland Commercial Architecture Award.

Wayne Schomberg

Wayne is an Architect, Partner and the Group Project & Operations Director at ThomsonAdsett. He has over 30 years’ experience in architectural practice, with the last 20 years spent working solely health and aged care projects throughout Australia and Asia Pacific.

Wayne has worked on a number of large Hospital campuses, Retirement Villages and Aged Care Facilities, including Independent Living Units and Frail Aged accommodation. He’s adept at understanding the operational and pragmatic aspects of health and aged care.

He’s particularly interested in designing environments that are cognisant to creating community. Wayne’s designs encourage social interaction and create a strong link between wellness and the natural environment. Wayne’s passionate about designing communities that empower and support people’s independence.

Katrina Miranda

Katrina is an award-winning, interior designer with more than 11 years’ experience throughout Australia and in South East Asia. She has a long history of creating beautiful experiences for users of retail and commercial places, workplaces, government institutions and resorts and leisure spaces.

Her strengths are strategic design, visioning and placemaking, space programming, design management, observational and feasibility analysis, accommodation briefs and design/style/fitout guides, post-occupancy evaluations and graphic/verbal/written communication.

Katrina is passionate about sociology and environmental psychology, health and wellbeing, environmental conservation, architecture, project management, business and change management, property development and leasing, marketing, writing, carpentry, travel and art makes her exceptional for leading the project of all scale.

Sean Byrne

Sean joined ThomsonAdsett in 2014 as a project leader. Sean is a talented designer with almost 25 years of professional experience in Canada, China, Dubai, and Germany prior to relocating to Australia. His principal expertise lies in the retail/commercial and master planning sectors. He also has had experience in a wide variety of other projects including mixed-use, education, hospitality, transport and residential developments. He has extensive refurbishment experience.

Sean is highly experienced in developing the design style and vision statement for the architecture of retail projects. He has a strong understanding of tenancy fit-out design and operation due to his personal running of a retail business.

As design director, Sean has experience in all aspects of projects from concept design through to construction documentation and contract administration. He has managed large internal and consultant teams over many years on a range of project types. He has strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement. On master planning projects he places a lot of importance on developing the pedestrian experience and creating great spaces between buildings.

Sean consistently develops great relationships with clients, consultants and his own team members. He believes that good communication is critical to the success of projects.

Naomi Herzog

Naomi Herzog is an accomplished business development professional who has been working in the property industry for over a decade. She has a sound understanding of all aspects of the property cycle, from development and project management to construction. Her broad experience gives her an appreciation for the challenges and opportunities involved in bringing projects to life.

Naomi is passionate about design and is aligned with ThomsonAdsett’s values and ethos of care. She is committed to helping the ThomsonAdsett team promote its multi-disciplinary expertise and pursue opportunities to build on its fifty-year legacy through new projects and strategic partnerships.

Shireen Hoffmann

Shireen is passionate about creating environments where human centred and thoughtful design enhance the function and experience of the space. Degrees in Built Environment and Business Management have enabled her to have a creative understanding of client needs as well as implementing business plans within the organisations she has directed and worked for.Shireen’s impressive career portfolio spans more than two decades across sectors including workplace, education, retail, hospitality, seniors living, public space, aviation, private medical and dental practice, multi-res, bespoke single dwelling, art gallery and interpretive centre design.Her design methodology is to form strong collaborative partnerships with clients, consultants and end-users to achieve innovative and future-proofed design outcomes.Recent projects include the expansion of Cairns Domestic Airport – doubling the footprint of Terminal 2 with a budget of $20M; lobby, recreation levels and public spaces for ‘The One’ Residences at 300 George Street, Brisbane Quarter and Bank of China’s first international flagship retail branch in Queen Street, Brisbane.

Pino Gentile

Architecture has the ability to define and reinforce social behaviours. From this position Pino works to achieve outcomes that not only meet the client’s requirements, but also result in designs that are functional, safe and enjoyable for the buildings end users.

Since joining ThomsonAdsett in 2002, Pino has worked almost exclusively on senior’s living projects, during which time he has developed a thorough working knowledge of the drivers affecting the this sector. He has demonstrated that through building a strong rapport with clients, coupled with an understanding of their business, that specific design outcomes to suit a client’s long term needs can be achieved.

Pino is proficient in all aspects of architectural practice and has a thorough understanding of construction documentation, construction logistics and building contracts. Applying these skills to a project, Pino drives a project to meet the milestones for each stage of a project.

Georgina Kearney

Georgina is a talented design architect with extensive national experience across master planning, facility planning and stakeholder engagement. With a recent focus on health and aged care, including several projects for Health Victoria, she is also experienced in social housing, education and community sport and recreation. Drawing on research and analysis, Georgina’s work is always underpinned by a strong conceptual framework. Her health projects are informed by the need to support wellbeing as much as healing, and she brings this ethos to every design sector. She enjoys working closely with clients, user groups and clinical specialists to interrogate a brief and understand user needs, now and in the future, to create places that benefit everyone who uses them. Working across scales, Georgina’s ability to translate project aspirations into future-proofed architecture make her a valuable leader within the Thomson Adsett team.

Daniel Covarrubias

Daniel is a proactive project leader with more than 15 years of experience working both in architecture and construction with experience in residential, health, retail and master planning.

Being part of award-winning companies in Australia, Europe and South America has allowed Daniel to work across all aspects of the projects from feasibility studies to delivery including development applications, design development, tender documentation, construction certification and construction documentation stages.

Daniel has a deep understanding of Development Control Plans, Australian Standards and the Building Code of Australia, among other codes, ensuring he can work efficiently in the early design processes through the different phases of the projects to deliver in the required time frame.

Passionate about design, Daniel is always seeking a way of creating spaces that reflect the nature and context of their surroundings. His outstanding Revit and Enscape software skills have enabled him to explore the design intent and desired outcome in a three-dimensional way.

Katharina Koschitz

Katharina has practiced as an architect for over 20 years, and has experience in a broad range of project types, complexities and scales across new builds and refurbishment/heritage projects. Katharina has led multiple health projects, including The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (Project Co-Lead, Project Management, Team Lead, and Schematic Design Stream Lead Architecture), and the Campbelltown Hospital redevelopment – Stage 2 (Facade Stream Lead).

Katharina led her own practice in Austria for 10 years and has delivered projects in Austria and Australia. Taking projects from inception to completion, she is skilled in client liaison, project management and leading large teams.

Using strong, holistic concepts to guide the planning and building process, Katharina aligns innovative design concepts and financial feasibility with client and stakeholder expectations. As project and team leader, she puts emphasis on good communication and creating a healthy work environment for all parties. She strives to uphold efficiency and accountability and deliver outstanding architecture.

Katharina has a keen interest in urban design and undertakes continuous professional development within and outside the architectural industry. She is committed to mentoring others and has contributed to several publications on topics including sustainability and infrastructure.

Armin Causevic

Armin joined ThomsonAdsett in 2015 as an architectural technician. His diverse experience includes residential, retail and commercial, seniors living, health, education and community projects.

As ThomsonAdsett’s Building Information Modelling (BIM) Manager, Armin is focused on the continual improvement of the practice’s CAD systems. He is responsible for ensuring that our Revit software, team workflows and documentation processes support accurate and efficient project delivery and maximise the benefits of BIM technology. He also assists with strategic planning and engages with IT and senior staff on integrating BIM systems into IT infrastructure.

Armin has high-level technical proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D visualisation software including Enscape, Twinmotion and Lumion. He is passionate about the possibilities and benefits of BIM and enjoys collaborating with like-minded consultants and contractors. As a valued member of the ThomsonAdsett team, he makes a significant contribution to the quality of our service and projects.

Jason Stewart

As the team leader for ThomsonAdsett’s Retail & Commercial sector, Jason is the main point of contact and project lead overseeing the construction documentation and delivery for many retail and commercial projects.

Jason’s background as an architectural technician since 2002 provides him with a thorough understanding of the challenges associated with project documentation and delivery. His extensive experience provides peace of mind to clients which results in regular repeat business.

Jason recently completed a Cert IV in Access Consulting, enhancing his comprehensive knowledge of the adaptability and accessibility standards.

Prior to joining ThomsonAdsett in 2013, Jason was involved in the design and contract documentation of over 100 residential and multi-residential projects, as well as various other typologies.

Jason prides himself on his attention to detail and the quality of his work, and he believes his broad experience, reliability and ability to learn quickly are his best assets.

Blake Challen

With more than 20 years’ experience in the industry and 12 years as a Registered Architect, Blake has developed and delivered a broad range of architectural typologies including health, seniors living, education, retail, commercial, industrial, residential, master planning and defence.

Blake has provided design management and architectural services on complicated large scale projects. He has a particular focus on coordination, communication and strategic design.
Blake is experienced in stakeholder consultation, consultant coordination, and contract administration support. He enjoys working with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver quality outcomes.
Over the last five years in particular, Blake has been further developing his skills in the health and seniors living sectors. He has enjoyed working with his team to find synergies between the different sectors, in particular with the changing landscape of technology.

Using lateral thinking, collaboration and exploration of cross sector design types, Blake enjoys providing quality documentation and design for his clients.

Alex Du Plessis

Alex is a highly experienced architect with a global portfolio of projects including major airports, large and small retail, multi-residential, corporate headquarters and interiors. He works at all scales, from 240,000m² retail centres down to tenant fit-outs. With experience in hospitality venues and hotels, seniors living and medical and hospital facilities, his sector knowledge is broad.

A 3D specialist, Alex creates photo-realistic digital models that enable clients to gain a clear understanding of their projects, and his images are often utilised by clients for their marketing campaigns. Alex’s technical expertise uses computer modelling and visualisation as part of the design process, and through this he ensures that the design is feasible and aesthetically of the highest quality. He is valued for his ability to explore design options quickly right from project inception as a result of his fully digital workflow.

Alex was promoted to Associate level in 2021 in recognition of his contribution to the practice.

Randal Williams

Having practiced architecture for over 30 years in Brisbane, Adelaide, Darwin, Perth and London, Randal has had extensive experience in the delivery of a broad range of institutional, industrial and commercial projects under a wide variety of environmental, commercial and social conditions.

His comprehensive knowledge and experience in master planning, coordinating and managing of complex multi-discipline projects combined with excellent communication skills mean that Randal can successfully deliver projects from the development of the brief, through all stages of the project including contract administration, to achieve an exceptional outcome.

Randal has a comprehensive background and understanding of regulatory systems and strict compliance requirements both in Australia and internationally.

Simon Hackney

With over 15 years of experience in the design and construction industry, Simon has amassed a large and varied body of work. His work covers a range of disciplines ranging from high-end resorts, apartments and hospitality projects to health, aged-care and more recently retail where he has led a national refurbishment roll-out alongside many other projects.

Throughout his career, Simon has worked on many exciting and challenging projects ranging from Harrods in London to Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi. As a senior designer and documenter, his previous position combined controlling CAD standards within the office and running drawing production teams ensuring all documents were correct and issued before deadline. While working on residential projects such as Soul, Oracle, Reflections and Circle-on-Cavil or Commercial projects such as Intercontinental Resort Fiji and Etihad Towers, Simon’s work included design and construction documentation, interior design, services and documentation coordination and client liaison.

Prior to joining ThomsonAdsett, Simon has worked for another international design practice where he focused on architectural design, documentation and detailing predominantly heath care projects from concept to completion, as well as coordinating all services and consultants, obtaining approval from all regulatory authorities and administering contracts.
