ThomsonAdsett has designed the new vertical North Lakes State College Senior Campus Project. The five-level building plus basement provides general learning areas, multimedia facilities, staff rooms, a special education space, music rooms, a rooftop terrace, a lecture theatre, a student wellbeing space and recreation area to accommodate 300 students and 19 staff.
Other key design elements include the greatest possible flexibility with operable walls between spaces, a mixture of flat floor and lecture theatre spaces, and increased covered outdoor spaces. The Level 5 terrace and lecture theatre are connected to enable functions to be held in this signature space.
Quality materials and finishes enhance the civic and educational nature of the facility while also providing suitable long-term maintenance and operational functionality.
The building is located on a tight urban site, and as a result, was designed to enhance connectivity and safety across the school. Meanwhile, a new pedestrian link bridge connects the new building with the existing campus.
ThomsonAdsett’s team is currently delivering several other vertical schools, including the new Inner North Secondary College.
The new flagship state secondary school in Fortitude Valley is Brisbane’s first vertical state high school and will deliver a state-of-the-art education facility for local students.
ThomsonAdsett was appointed to lead the Architectural Documentation, in partnership with Hutchinson Builders. The Architectural Design was delivered by Cox Architecture.
ThomsonAdsett has a longstanding history of delivering primary and tertiary education facilities throughout Australia.
