Melbourne studio continues growth across multiple sectors

ThomsonAdsett’s Melbourne studio has seen a large rise in commercial and education projects in recent years, reflecting the practice’s longstanding experience across multiple sectors.

The studio’s core team of over 25 talented and diversely-skilled professionals is strengthened by Mark Eden as the new studio lead. The Melbourne team also includes ThomsonAdsett’s Managing Director, National Design Director and two sector Group Directors.

With rapid population growth forecast in Victoria, ThomsonAdsett is ideally positioned to contribute to the state’s built environment and society. We look forward to continuing to create integrated communities within the emerging mixed-use sector.

The Melbourne studio has undertaken a broad range of projects across the retail and commercial, health, seniors living, and education sectors, including the following selected projects.

Box Hill Commercial Development

A sophisticated renovation to revitalise an outdated development in a key commercial hub.

This contemporary addition to the front of a tired building minimised the need for alterations whilst improving its street presence. A spacious, tranquil entrance is flanked by two cafes which add vibrancy to street activities along the busy Whitehorse Road, while serving the updated offices and amenities at upper levels.

Bendigo

An integrated intergenerational learning community, P-12 school, aged care, short-term accommodation for visiting families, boarding for students commercial, medical, community, sporting and transport facilities. The project includes shared facilities to foster a diverse community.

Employment will be generated on-site, offering students opportunities to develop expertise in health, allied health and aged care, as well as a range of other areas that would otherwise not be available to them.

The project is based around the concept of ‘small village principles’, with the design fostering relationships and reinforcing nature-based teaching and learning techniques.

Highpoint

ThomsonAdsett has been engaged to assist in a substantial aesthetic upgrade to this major shopping centre. As the delivery architects, we are leveraging off our experience in the retail sector to develop and deliver the contemporary architectural language proposed by Carr Design.

The upgrades include new mall treatments, voids, flooring and ceiling compositions throughout a substantial portion of levels two and three. This contemporary design also features ‘activity nodes’ to offer a unique experience for visitors that transcends the boundaries of a typical retail environment. Highpoint will become integral to the social fabric of the western suburbs.

We are excited to support the reinvigoration of this Melbourne retail icon, with construction commencing later this year.
