A contemporary refurbishment creating unique lecture and collaborative labs within a heritage building.

Detailed consultation with academics realised the creation of a flat floor collaborative teaching and learning space.

The tables are designed to accommodate groups of nine or three sub-groups of three students. This maximises the utilisation of the space. One-to-one mock-ups were utilised to test the table sizes in the existing room.

A central lectern breaks down the traditional barriers of didactic learning. Peripheral screens enable problem-based learning to occur and content can be readily shared across this dynamic learning environment.

The fluidity of the ceiling treatment celebrates the connected nature of the space and elements such as writeable coloured-back glass surfaces, acoustic provisions and appropriate FF+E selections further contribute to the collaborative experience.
