The creation of an inclusive design that provides important flexible learning spaces. Integration of life-skill learning areas.

ThomsonAdsett collaborated with the school community to review the needs of high-support secondary students and their teachers. As a result, we created a stimulating educational environment meeting the needs of students and teachers, while maintaining the security of the entrance and perimeter.

Our design includes flexible teaching areas and life-skill learning areas such as a domestic laundry and kitchen. An outdoor education play area provides a physically secure environment with:

  • outdoor learning spaces,
  • an in-ground trampoline,
  • a water play area,
  • vegetable gardens, and
  • storytelling nooks.

The building provides a safe and stimulating learning experience for the students, and an accommodating space in which staff are able to teach.
