A masterplan that provides a sense of place and minimises disruption. A design that engages the student with their environment.

St Justin’s Catholic Primary School is a new 840-student school in the south-west growth corridor of Sydney.

The masterplan was developed through an iterative briefing process with the client.

This project is an example of ThomsonAdsett’s commitment to research and development into flexible and agile learning spaces as a reflection of new pedagogical approaches.

The design stems from a desire for the whole site – indoors and outdoors – to be a learning space. The design embraces the cultural, social and natural heritage of the locale, in addition to the spiritual and educational philosophies that will underpin the school.

The architecture reflects rural or ‘barn-like’ structures with large overarching roofs which provide shelter. The district’s eclectic nature is expressed through a variety of material and detailing choices.
