A state-of-the-art genomics centre that will help local primary producers grow and breed the best produce and livestock for market. An innovative fit-out, housing the new facility entirely within the shell of an existing industrial warehouse.

ThomsonAdsett’s architecture and interior design teams designed and helped deliver a new state-of-the-art laboratory facility for Neogen Australasia that has been awarded certification of a Physical Containment Level 2 (PC2) Laboratory.

Neogen, headquartered in Michigan USA, is a leading international corporation specialising in the food and animal safety sector, providing world-class biological research and agricultural industry solutions.

The design team delivered an innovative fit-out, housing the new facility entirely within the shell of an existing industrial warehouse. The new facility has been designed with adaptability in mind to accommodate Neogen Australasia’s expanding presence in South East Queensland. Double-height spaces and skylight openings were maximised in the design of the new inner structure to provide an ambient visual connection with the outer warehouse and beyond.

To manage the volatile construction market at the time, ThomsonAdsett collaborated closely with the contractor to help keep the project within a reasonable budget. The outcome was a pleasing result for Neogen’s vice president of international business, Jason Lilly, who expressed his appreciation for “the flow, design, openness and industrial feel” while visiting from the United States.
