LAHC – Campsie Seniors Housing
Fifteen dwellings smoothly integrated into the rich urban frame of Campsie, a suburb developed interwar
The NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) owns, manages and maintains the NSW Government’s public housing portfolio. LAHC plays a critical role in increasing the supply of social and affordable housing across NSW through the construction of new fit-for-purpose social housing.
ThomsonAdsett is currently engaged to provide architectural services for the design and documentation of 15 seniors housing units (six one-bedroom and nine two-bedroom) with basement car parking and landscaping. The engagement includes concept options, sketch phase, development application documentation, tender documentation and construction stage services.
The project responds to the topography of the suburb. The built form steps down the street as the planning zoning permits. The material palate of this project is also consistent with the masonry precinct, robust, solid and already a part of the suburb.
ThomsonAdsett is proud to support the further development of the community housing sector in metropolitan and regional NSW, improving the quality, comfort and safety of homes for vulnerable people.
The government funded a boost in social housing by selling estate land to private developers who would turn sites into mixed communities with a 70:30 ratio of private residents to social housing tenants. The children of the socially disadvantaged would grow up in streets alongside working families, who would be role models.
