Hong Kong Hospital Authority – Kwong Wah Hospital Redevelopment

A redevelopment that will make this one of the largest modern hospitals in Hong Kong, with more than 1,200 inpatient beds and over 400 day beds.

This project is a two-stage redevelopment of the 50+ year old Kwong Wah Hospital in a densely-populated area of Hong Kong.

The replacement of existing hospital buildings is staged over a 10-year period, with all facilities remaining fully operational during construction.

New facilities include a Chinese medicine outpatient clinic, integrated Chinese and Western medicine in-patient wards, a clinical laboratory (including a Chinese medicine laboratory) and radiology facilities, an accident and emergency department with an emergency medicine ward, ambulatory care services, inpatient wards, operating theatres, intensive care units, and mental health facilities.

Working with local architects, Simon Kwan & Associates, ThomsonAdsett provided health planning services for the entire development including detailed planning of over 5,000 clinical rooms.
