A unique, modern, resort-style interpretation of a health and wellness facility

ThomsonAdsett was engaged to design a new state-of-the-art, multi-storey health and wellness centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The new building is a modern interpretation of a care facility for the over 50’s target market. It breaks away from previous, clinical-driven design approaches to deliver an upmarket, resort-style experience built around enjoying life. The unique mix of amenities includes a wellness spa, bath house, gymnasium and large-scale social club alongside medical suites, treatment rooms, a 90-bed short-stay recovery accommodation and administration spaces.

ThomsonAdsett’s architecture and interior design team worked closely with the client on the design brief, space planning, concept vision and documentation to create something truly unique for Saudi Arabia’s ‘future’ ageing population. The design vision, material palette and detailing are bold and extravagant (from the highly sculptural façade to the high-end finishes and innovative lighting approach) while being sensitive to the intricacies of a seniors living and healthcare environment.

Our team worked closely with the Client to deliver a pioneering building that remained respectful toward current, cultural considerations. The project is a balance of global leading design principles interpreted in a geographically sensitive way.
