Modus Projects – COS Wintergarden

Prestigious clothing store fit-out.

COS (Collection of Style) is a new fashion brand for women and men as part of the H&M Group.

Taking up residence in Queen Street Mall’s prestigious Wintergarden complex, this COS store marks the brand’s first Queensland store and seventh Australian venture following openings in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

The flagship Brisbane store is one of its largest in Australia, spanning 474 square-metres across two levels, and opening directly onto Edward Street and into Wintergarden’s ground floor mall.

The decision to create this space is part of Wintergarden’s parent company ISPT’s ongoing commitment to bringing new and international retailers to Brisbane. The opening of COS in the centre further complements the unique flagship retail at Wintergarden, both internally and on Queen Street Mall as well as retailers on Edward Street.

Much like the clothing itself, the new COS store displays clean, thoughtful lines with geometric shapes and an urban edge. It is peppered with sitting and display areas that feature a mix of intricate brickwork, modern stone, concrete, metal and wood set against a mostly white background. While the store keeps with the COS aesthetic, design for the space was inspired by Brisbane’s surrounding architecture, with the handsome Edward Street facade built using locally-sourced bricks.

ThomsonAdsett was involved in providing design development and improvement to the original concept, taking the COS vision and bringing it to life.
