A 104-bed aged care facility that unites the landscape and building as one on the northern beaches of Sydney

Designed with a ‘resident focus,’ the facility has various levels of offering with uninterrupted bush and distant water views. Based on the design philosophy of contextual and ‘of the site,’ the building and landscape is proposed with intermingling of courtyards within the articulated form. This provides intimate visual engagement with landscape for all residents to enjoy.

Landscape and greenery are proven to hugely benefit seniors living in aged care. As such, our design draws on the idea of landscape and building as one.

The project is located in Belrose, a neighbourhood that typically contains low rise homes. The design connects to surrounding buildings through the use of brick and sandstone, and it replicates the residential scale of houses on the street –with the facility’s height presented as two storeys from thestreet.

Individual room designs are influenced by the native flora and fauna, with spotted gum and other timbers used in detailing throughout.
