One of Brisbane’s first suburban Coles Local. An inspiring design for a challenging site. Energises the suburban high street.
ThomsonAdsett recently designed several Coles Local supermarkets for affluent Brisbane suburbs, where the high streets have suffered as a result of customers being drawn away to large shopping centres.
Coles Local Taringa is a 2,690m² supermarket with a 150m² Liquorland and 99 off-street parking spaces.
This smaller format supermarket will complement full-line supermarkets located in larger centres and will offer suburban residents more choice for their daily needs. It will provide a much needed anchor and be a catalyst for the revival of Taringa Village high street.
Carefully articulated facades front Moggill Road and Swann Road, including a prominent architectural corner element.
ThomsonAdsett has a close relationship with Coles, and the quality of the design has been well received and appears to have fast-tracked the development application approval with Brisbane City Council.
This project was conceived, designed and mostly completed during the COVID-19 lockdown which is a testament to ThomsonAdsett’s abilities, particularly when taking into account the fact that site visits were not allowed.
