Brisbane’s first suburban Coles Local. An inspiring design for a challenging site. Energises the suburban high street.

ThomsonAdsett recently designed several Coles Local supermarkets for affluent Brisbane suburbs, where the high streets have suffered as a result of customers being drawn away to large shopping centres.

Coles Local Taringa is a 2690 sqm supermarket with a 150 sqm Liquorland and 99 off-street parking spaces.

This smaller format supermarket complements full-line supermarkets located in larger centres and offers suburban residents more choice for their daily needs. It provides a much needed anchor and catalyst for the revival of Taringa Village high street with carefully articulated facades front Moggill Road and Swann Road, including a prominent architectural corner element.

This project was conceived, designed and mostly completed during the COVID-19 lockdown which is a testament to ThomsonAdsett’s abilities, particularly when taking into account the fact that site visits were not allowed.
