Bunnings Group – Bunnings Warehouse Newstead

Multi-level state-of-the-art new generation centre for an iconic Australian retailer. Largest Bunnings in Queensland. Contemporary industrial design that respects the historic sawtooth warehouse forms of its Newstead context.

ThomsonAdsett designed and delivered this Bunnings of the future in Brisbane. With a total floor area of more than 17,000m² over four levels, the Newstead store is more than double the size of a typical Bunnings.

The state-of-the-art mixed-use site, located about 4km from the CBD, consists of a basement car park, main warehouse, outdoor nursery, bagged goods area, café and timber trade sales area, and will also feature six street-level tenancies for retail or office space, totalling just under 1,600m².

The design of Bunnings Warehouse at Newstead relates to the fine-grain and sawtooth form typical of the historic Newstead wool stores and industrial buildings. The clean, simple sawtooth roof provides indirect south daylighting and opportunities for solar panel installation on north-facing roof shapes. It also assists to visually break down the large volume of the building into three sections and creates a strong street presence.

Pedestrian linkages along the northern facade will be activated by shipping-container style cafés and will adjoin a future residential development.

ThomsonAdsett is proud to be a part of Bunnings’ continuing investment and expansion in Queensland.
