The strategic planning aims to minimise vehicle and pedestrian conflict and to promote a fluid transition into and through the site.

Strong visual connections with the roadway overpass and ease of road access were very significant aspects to the design. An internal ‘Boulevard’ was created to divide the uses of the site to ensure functionality and to provide access/egress to future development stages. The Shell/Coles Express service centre provides the anchor with additional tenancies around an internal mall seating area. The tenancies are clustered together to provide flexibility for future tenants’ layouts. The outdoor seating area has a signature raised roof to the east to allow additional natural light and ventilation into the space. Naturally folding roof shapes, with floating and overhanging elements creating shadow and depth through the manipulation of layers and the filtering of light create a ‘distinctly Queensland’ built form. The design suggests a modern vernacular with natural materials that flow from the outdoors to the indoors.
