Allows for efficient care delivery whilst celebrating the lifestyle of the community
ThomsonAdsett designed this two-storey facility accommodating 102 residents.
Designed as a small house model, extensive planning for staff efficiencies went into this design. A thorough investigation of clean and dirty paths of travel as well as infection control measures have also been incorporated into the design.
Overlooking the Noosa National Park, the BlueCare Sunrise Beach residential aged care facility provides quality person-centred care in a resort-style building designed to respond to the sub-tropical climate. The design reflects the relaxed, community-oriented lifestyle that local residents know and love.
The facility is designed to mirror the familiar coastal lifestyle of the Sunshine Coast. Residents and visitors alike experience a comfortable, homely atmosphere enhanced by wide verandahs, lush courtyards, and shaded walkways. These features allow residents to enjoy the natural environment, with access to outdoor terraces and courtyards reminiscent of the homes and spaces they’ve lived in for years.
The small house design is integral to Blue Care’s model of care, focusing on smaller, home-like environments within the larger facility. Each “house” contains 8 to 9 bedrooms, a living area, dining room, kitchen, and outdoor terrace. This design balances a domestic feel with the operational efficiencies of a larger aged care facility, enabling personalised care in a familiar setting.
Community consultation played a vital role in the success of this project, particularly when designing for sensitive demographics like ageing Sunshine Coast locals.
