A unique project for a unique site; the design priority was to maximise the riverfront vistas along the length of the deck.
The result was a very long, narrow building with many distinct areas forming a journey across the length of the site.
The geometry of the plan provides for a plethora of intimate and distinctive lounge areas. Views of the waterway are maximised with a promenade stretching the length of the building, and bi-fold doors along the length of the site open to create a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces.
The zig-zag river-side fenestration and spatial geometry dictate a lively roof profile synonymous with boat and marina forms. The western sun, as well as traffic noise from the busy arterial road on the site’s western side is well insulated behind zig-zag masonry walls whilst the site opens generously onto the eastern riverside aspect.
