The latest stage of Grafton Shoppingworld took over five years of planning and close collaboration between ThomsonAdsett, the client/developer and local council to achieve the best outcome not only for the centre but for the Grafton community.
The redevelopment involved the closure of a major road in the middle of town, the redirection of the main articulated vehicle route around the town centre, the relocation and reinstatement of a New Council Carpark and the restoration of a heritage building façade and retail arcade linking the shopping centre through to Grafton’s historic main street.
The redeveloped centre has breathed new life into the centre of town through the addition of major national retailers and ancillary services as well as the creation of a vibrant food precinct with a seating capacity for over 400 diners.
Connection with community was an important part of the development and an “historic walk” was installed through the Prince St Arcade celebrating the Clarence Valley region’s storied history.
